Best Ways to Repair Eyeglass Frames

An Introduction to Eyeglass Frame Damage
Out of all the things we have to care for, eyeglass frames rank quite high on the list. It seems that no matter what we do, they seem to be able to take damage from just about anything, including the air! For those of us cursed with bespectacled eyes, we have to learn how to repair our eyeglass frames. Keep scrolling to learn more about our Top Ways to Repair Eyeglass Frames.
Using Heat and a Pinto Repair Bridge
By using this excellent method, you can repair damage to the bridge of your eyeglass frame.
  1. Fill a pot with water and set it on the stove, with the flame ‘high’.
  2. Melt the edges of the bridge by holding them above the boiling water.
  3. Push one end of a pin into one edge of the bridge, and smooth the plastic over it with a tool.
  4. While the plastic is still hot, push the other end of the bridge onto the end of the pin sticking out. Again, smooth the plastic over.
 Replacing Lost Screws
This is not a home track with which you can replace lost or damaged screws and is rather a guide to using the Eyeglass repair kits. Seriously, buy one.
  1. An Eyeglass Repair Kit contains a selection of screws, longer and shorter ones, along with a screwdriver and a magnifying glass.
  2. Make sure the screw slot is empty. If there are pieces from the broken screw, make sure to pick them out of there.
  3. Insert the long screw into the hinge, and screw it in tightly.
  4. Snap off the part of the screw outside the hinge.
  5. One can use a toothpick to temporarily take the place of a damaged screw.
 Repairing Scratches
While not a part of the frame, the lens also gets damaged quite frequently. This guide can be used to remove scratches on the lens.
  1. Use a glass etching product on your scratched lenses. Though this will remove the various coatings, this will remove the annoying scratches.
  2. If not, use household cleaners on your lenses, and polish them with a soft cloth.
